Longbrothers a T-Shirt Logo Revival

Back in 2015, our longboard crew in Colombia came up with the name Longbrothers, a playful mix of longboarders and brothers. The original logo was created by David Calderón (Monx), a talented graphic designer, longboarder and founder of Rebels & Bros. It quickly became part of our identity, printed on t-shirts that we all wore proudly.

Challenge

Almost ten years later, I felt the logo deserved a second life. The problem was that the original files were lost, and the only thing left was a low-quality PNG. On top of that, I wanted to refine details like: perspective, and overall visual noise. The challenge was to rescue and redesign the logo while staying true to its spirit

Process

With Monx’s blessing, I began a reverse-engineering process. Using Procreate for the initial illustration and Illustrator for vector refinement, the logo was rebuilt from scratch, focusing on better perspective, simplified lines, and a more timeless feel. For the new t-shirt: the redesigned logo was placed on the back, while the front features a small text print on the left chest.

I wasn’t alone, my friend and fellow Longbrother Adrián Bravo supported me throughout, which made the project even more meaningful. Once the redesign was finalized, I worked with a Colombian screen-printing company to produce a new batch of t-shirts for the crew.

Outcome

The outcome was a renewed identity that respected its origins but looked cleaner, stronger, and more versatile. The new t-shirts quickly even caught the attention of others who asked how to get one. A personal project that started for friends, but with potential to grow further..
